CDHC

Find out how we can help you access free or low-cost private home care services in Calgary through the Client Directed Home Care invoicing program (CDHC).

Are you seeking private home care for seniors, but are unable to pay out of pocket? Do you qualify for Self-Managed Care (SMC) in Alberta, but don’t want the hassle of employer responsibilities, like scheduling and payroll? You may be eligible for Client Directed Home Care! If you are unsure what Client Directed Home Care (CDHC) is and what that means for you, we are here to help.

Simply put, AHS (Alberta Health Services) is providing support to meet the personal and home care needs of seniors who qualify for publicly-funded services. Now you get to choose from private agencies, to access free or low-cost home care for seniors. Through private home care assistance, you have greater control over the type and level of care you or your loved one can receive.

What is the Client Directed Home Care Invoicing Program (CDHC or CDHCI)?

The Client Directed Home Care Invoicing Program was launched by Alberta Health Services in 2023. CDHC allows you, the client, to receive publicly funded home care services through approved private home care agencies in Alberta. Furthermore, instead of going through the stress of paying privately and then filing for reimbursement, home care service providers can now directly bill Alberta Blue Cross. This means you can get the care you want without the headache that comes with all that paperwork!

We can offer qualifying clients premium services at no cost or a greatly reduced rate.

As a professional homecare service provider, we can also handle the logistics of coordinating care and expenses. We oversee:

  • Billing through Alberta Blue Cross
  • Caregiver benefits
  • Caregiver payroll
  • Hours worked
  • Vetting new caregivers
  • Covering caregiver vacation time

We also work closely with you and your family to find a caregiver who is the perfect match for your needs long-term. We want to keep families with the caregivers they know and trust. This means finding a caregiver with similar culture and background, who can speak a client’s preferred language, is a great personality fit, and can work with a client’s schedule and level of need. Now, families can rest assured that their loved ones are receiving quality care from someone they trust.
